We just saw a similar situation in Florida where the entire state no-fault insurance system fell apart, and the governor and legislature were forced into a special session to fix it. They put off dealing with a growing problem, and it destroyed the automobile insurance system in Florida.

Michigan’s system is not in a statewide crisis – yet, but there are clear warning signs in communities across the state. Because of government-mandated, unlimited coverage, fewer people can afford insurance and more drivers are choosing to drive without coverage at all. When uninsured drivers get into accidents, costs increase for all drivers. The cycle continues, the system is put under stress and drivers suffer.

We don’t want Michigan drivers to suffer the same fate as Florida drivers.
